Luv it March 17, 2010 P. Clark (scotland) I really like this hoover. It is so small & dinky, makes storing & lifting easy. Moves around really well, pick up Xlnt. Yep, could do with a longer wire for getting upstairs & other roooms, but apart from that I cant fault it.
DYSON DC24 great buy March 16, 2010 Mrs. M. Rathbone I purchased the dyson dc24 from amazon found it to be a great buy, very pleased with it,the price was the best I found anywhere else.
I have always been satisfied with anything I have bought from Amazon.
Really does work like they say March 13, 2010 Mr. A. Birkett (Edinburgh, UK) Having got fed up with my non-sucking old cleaner, I was still unsure about spending so much money on a new cleaner. However, having now had it for a year, I'm very pleased with it. I'm kinda cynical of marketing claims, but even I have to admit that the Dyson lives up to the wild claims made about it.
Firstly, the ball idea really does work. Once you've used it a few times, you'll wonder why we didn't do this sooner. You can steer around sharp corners one-handed, and the machine can squat down pretty low to let you get under chairs and stuff without moving them. (Ok, yes I do do "boy cleaning").
The cyclone thing is easy to empty and it's somewhat scary to see how much dirt and fluff it grabs. You can also dismantle the whole thing to clean it if you do something dumb like suck up lots of plaster dust, which kinda clogs it up.
Some other little "good ideas" too; the cable winds around a clip bit which you just spin through 180 degrees to release the cable. This means the cable doesn't get twisted into knots like on a regular cleaner.
It's compact enough to live in the corner, but doesn't this doesn't in any way compromise it's cleaning ability - it still feels and works like a full size cleaner. To use the extension hose, you need to pull out bits and clip them together, but they're well designed so this is a quick and easy process.
The only downside is that you have to remove the two builtin filters every so often and, wash them under the tap for a minute and leave them to dry for 24h. It's pretty easy to do, but I imagine the suction suffers if you forget to do this for ages.
Overall, a great product, well designed and well built. It really does do all the things they show you in the advert.
Who'd write a review about a vcacuum ....? March 8, 2010 Paul C. Bentley (Midlands UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yeah, I thought that ... buy one of these beauties and you also might do.
Its that good.
I have a 2 storey house with tight stairs, and the conventional monster hoover from a decade ago is a big old lump to drag up (DC04 Dyson).
I spotted the DC24 in a local store and was amazed by its ergonomic design and light weight but assumed the power would 'suck', but don't be fooled. This thing really vacuums strongly, I'd say better than my much bigger old DC04. I'm a bloke, and its almost a joy to clean up my house now ... what guy would say that!
So far I haven't broken it, but it does feel lightly constructed so I won't be bashing it in to things. The ball idea is brilliant, it just works. I really like the switch to turn off the beater bar for hard floors, and all the disassembly levers e.g one quick release to remove the waste bin from the unit, and press again and the bottom pings open to release the dirt in to your waste bin ... very simple. Beater bar is removed in 1 minute and easily re-haired. Dirt capacity is limited, its a small vac, but just empty it more, its no big deal. The accessories seem to work very well. Like others say, a retractable power cable would seem something that would be an improvement if its possible. For older folks who struggle with big heavy 'hoovers', this thing would be a Godsend.
Ditch the old skool big uprights, and get this ...
